Down Memory Lane
My recent trip to the Bay Area became a walk (and sometimes a very steep hike) up and down memory lane. I spent many summers and a couple of years in my childhood roaming these hills with the constantly rustling eucalyptus leaves. This photo was taken near dusk. I'd completed a 6-hour drive and needed to move my body! My sister and I hiked up the hill where we'd both spent many happy hours in the quiet sanctuary near my aunt's home.
In the small town here, there is also a "lake." Really, it's a small reservoir that has transformed itself into a tiny nature sanctuary where all kinds of waterfowl - ducks, egrets, herons - come to land and find safety during migrations. I shot some footage, mainly to capture the wonderful bird sounds. I panned the camera up into the sky, as there was a hawk of some kind - hard to see, as it's very high in the sky.
You may enjoy listening to the late September sounds of avian contentment and deep human appreciation...
